Tribe, Nairobi

Warm, earthy shades and a deep collection of handicrafts infuse Nairobi's Tribe Hotel with rich African flair and rare luxury. Unity is central at this Design Hotels™ member, uplifting both local and African culture in its conception, design, and execution.

About

Feel the warmth of Africa at Tribe, Nairobi. From the hotel’s inspired architecture and interiors to its arty decor and strong arts programming, Tribe celebrates the continent’s diversity of cultures, styles, and materials, and brings the urban, high-design scene to Kenya’s capital.

At Tribe, 137 guest rooms and suites are spread across three wings. Jiko restaurant brings fresh, organic ingredients to a wood-fire grill. There is a heated pool, surrounded by waterfalls and gardens. The rooftop bar is chic and buzzy. And the forest-inspired onsite spa… well, Condé Nast Traveller describes the Kaya Spa as "one of the hottest urban retreats in the world." If you were thinking about a stop in Nairobi before heading on safari, this is where to stay.

Location

Located in the expansive and luxurious Village Market center, you’ll find easy access to high-end shopping and restaurants. You’ll also find the heart of Nairobi’s international scene here in Gigiri with embassies, NGOs, and even some UN headquarters calling the neighborhood home. Venture a little further out and you’ll be rewarded with wildlife centers, like the educational Giraffe Center and the conservationist David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, and the incredible African Heritage House, displaying African textiles, masks, art, artifacts, crafts, books and photographs in mud architectures from across the continent.

Travel with Impact

A trip to Kenya isn’t merely a feast of experiences and a check on the bucket list, it’s an opportunity to help ensure the survival of Africa’s critical species. Kenyan conservancy agency WildlifeDirect (not affiliated with the hotel) helps visitors play a role in environmental good. You can help ensure the survival of critical species while in Nairobi by visiting organizations like WildlifeDirect to learn about the conservation of wildlife and threats to iconic species, and by visiting the Nairobi National Park and other centers.
