At the west end of Tucson’s streetcar line, in the shadow of Sentinel Peak, the brand new Tuxon Hotel strikes a natural balance between the city's hip downtown scene and the arid beauty of the surrounding desertscape, with its untold miles of hiking and biking trails.
Tucson is a city at crossroads of Mexican, Native American, and cowboy cultures. The hotel’s interior design draws inspiration from the surrounding desert and its melded southern Arizona heritage. You can see it in the rooms, with their native-influenced wall tiles, rustic wood touches, saddled leather, and potted succulents. There’s a cozy, geometric bed-throw that abstractly depicts the mountains of the Tucson basin. In the bathroom, Malin+Goetz products and a rainfall shower are ready to wash away the desert dust.
While by day, The Tuxon is a place for adventurers. By night, the hotel's pool scene serves as a local gathering spot for cocktails and conversation, with live music, movie screenings, and craft workshops. The eatery does local and Mexican-inspired dishes very well, and has an extensive wine selection is curated by sommelier Drew Record. We wouldn’t be surprised if the restaurant earns a Michelin star soon enough.
